Winter Skin Care Routine – #HydrateWithPONDS

This post is sponsored by Mirum, but opinions expressed are my own.

Goodness gracious… Winter is here, and she is NOT playing around! You’re going to have to forgive me for all of the complaining over the Summer about how hot it was, or about how absolutely bipolar mother nature was over the last few months. I only blame myself for practically calling Winter to my front door. It’s game day today and while I’m trying to decide where to watch the game where my boys fight to stay in the playoffs, I’m also low key trying to decide how to brave this weather. It is brutally cold outside and that means it is time to change up my routines once again to cure or avoid dry skin! The cold air can leave your skin cracked and dry. I’ve got 5 tips for keeping your skin well cared for during the freezing cold months!

TIP #1: Keep It Warm, NOT HOT!

In case you didn’t know, hot water tends to dry the skin out – and so does hot air! Running a humidifier at home helps to avoid cracking skin. Keep in mind that leaving the thermostat at a very high temperature can leave your skin feeling dry. Don’t forget about your showers, too! Keep it as lukewarm as possible, because hot water actually strips moisture from your skin. For my curly girls… this same rule applies to your hair! Water that’s too hot will leave your curls feeling dry, too.

TIP #2: Exfoliate!

In the winter, you skin can get dry and that makes your skin work double time to produce natural oils. Believe it or not, these oils can clog your pores and nobody wants that! If you regularly exfoliate your skin (face and body), you’ll lessen the chance of having your pores clogged, remove dry skin and reveal a softer and smoother canvas! My face cleansing brush  helps to get the job done but a good DIY scrub from your favorite Pinterest board will do great too – look for one with HONEY!

Do NOT skip this step! When it comes to your winter skin care routine, make sure that you include a hydrating facial moisturizer that instantly reduces dryness. After seeing how moisturizing their Cold Cream Cleanser was, I decided to try the POND’S Dry Skin Cream Rich Hydrating Facial Moisturizer and not to my surprise, this moisturizer is just as hydrating! It doesn’t clog pores,  is dermatologist tested and suitable for sensitive skin like mine! The POND’S Dry Skin Cream is a creamy formula that easily sinks into the skin to deeply hydrate it while significantly reducing dryness. I’m so glad I can trust in a cream to keep my skin in check this season! I #hydratewithPonds because it hasn’t failed me! I could walk out of my front door and get hit with a blast of cold wind and feel confident in knowing that my skin is protected with so much moisture.

Do you need a rich and creamy moisturizer like POND’s Dry Skin Cream? I’ve got you covered. From now until January 20th, if you head over to your nearest CVS store, it’s Buy One, Get One 50% Off all POND’S products. Stock up this winter because you and I both know you’ll need it! Plus, get $4 ExtraBucks when you spend $12 on participating POND’S products.

TIP #4: Kiss Chapped Lips Goodbye!

Ughhh! We’ve all been there – the moment the temperature drops even a smudge is the moment our lips feel dry and flaky. Winter is the season of cuddles! There’s absolutely no time to have dry lips! To avoid the dry lips, avoid ultra-matte lip colors. Matte lipsticks and such actually dry your lips out and usually after a few hours they will make your lips look extra cracked and flaky. I love using tinted lip balms to help protect my besos in the winter, keeping my lips soft and moisturized!

TIP #5: Deep Condition Weekly!

Make your hair routine part of your beauty routine and don’t neglect your curls this winter! I’ve been there, I’ve done that… and it wasn’t pretty! Keep your curls hydrated and moisturized this season with WEEKLY deep conditioners! I don’t care what you use, I don’t care what brand it is, just please don’t forget to deep condition those curls to replenish any moisture you might have lost in the dry air! I’d recommend creamier deep conditioners that will fill your curls with the hydration that it needs this winter! After deep conditioning, consider a protective style. I like side twists and a low bun, it’s my go-to during the winter!

I wish you a winter filled with hydration and moisture and that the days of dry and cracked skin be gone forever! Stick to these steps and you’ll start to notice a difference. Just wanted to remind you to hop on over to CVS and pick up some POND’S Dry Skin Cream plus other beauty favorites for this season. You can use your CVS Reusable Bags like I do! It’s a great way to hold your purchases while you’re shopping and then taking them home. It’s a great way to stick to that “eco-friendly” resolution you might have made at the start of the year! What are some changes you’ve made to your Winter beauty routine? Let me know in a comment below! Stay warm!
