Define Your Curls With Dove Quench Absolute Shampoo and Conditioner

Sponsored post by Lunchbox. All opinions are my own.

Curly hairstyles don’t have to be impossible. Personally for me, hairstyles are easiest to manage when my curls are healthy and soft! Now that Spring is here, I love playing around with cute and whimsical hairstyles to go with all of my flowy dresses this season! I’ve been loving this half up-half down hairstyle with a braided crown. It’s a very romantic look and can be done on any type of hair. When it comes to curly hair, though, it’s best to style your curls when they are soft and hydrated. Manipulating dry and brittle hair could lead to breakage.  That’s why I prepped and styled with the Dove Advanced Hair Series Quench Absolute system to get my curls in the best shape for this flawless style!

Step One: Shampoo!

I began to wash my hair with the Dove Quench Absolute Ultra Nourishing Shampoo to strengthen my curls while giving my hair a gentle cleanse. I love that it doesn’t leave my hair feeling stripped at all. The shampoo is actually quite moisturizing which leaves my hair feeling soft and revived after washing.

Step Two: Condition

After the shampoo, I followed with the Dove Quench Absolute Ultra Nourishing Conditioner. This conditioner has great slip and smells delicious! It also absorbs effortlessly into the hair. I left it in my hair for about 15 minutes and when I rinsed it out, my hair felt incredibly soft which increased the manageability of my curls.

Step Three: Restore

This is probably one of my favorite parts! After washing my hair, I take some Dove Quench Absolute Intensive Restoration Mask and rake it evenly throughout my hair. I used to do this step in the shower and eventually rinse it out after about 20 to 30 minutes. I have noticed, though, that it makes for an excellent styler. This mask is a rich and creamy formula that deeply penetrates the hair which intensely nourishes the curls. Once I have raked the mask through my hair, I scrunch to encourage a curl pattern and then dry my hair using a blowdryer and diffuser. The (light) heat from the blowdryer helps to open the cuticle and allow for the nutrients from the mask to further penetrate the hair shaft while the diffuser helps to distribute that mild heat and boost the spring back in the curl. Look at these results!

Now that my curls are full, defined, and soft, I know that my hair is healthy enough for easy manipulation to achieve my goddess-like hairstyle! Want to know how I got the look? Follow along!

Spring Hairstyle with Defined Curls

Gather some hair from the top and the sides of your head and hold it right at the top of your head. Push forward to create a little bouffant look and pin your hair in place.

Once the top part of your hair is pinned up, time to move on to the braided crown! From the section that has not already been pinned, take a chunk from the side and begin to braid it. Once you have reached towards the end of the braid, bring it over your head and let it rest right on top of where your hair has been clipped. You should be able to pin the end of the braid behind or inside of the top half of your hair.

You want to be sure to do this on the other side, too! Section, braid, crossover and pin! Once you have both braids pinned in place, you can secure your style with a bit of Dove’s Style+Care Strength & Shine Extra Hold Hair Spray. I really like this spray because while it provides all-day flexible hold, it does not leave your hair feeling stiff or crunchy at all! It holds the body and volume very well while also enhancing a bit of shine. Since I’m going for a more polished look, I like that the spray not only strengthens my style but also helps to prevent frizz and flyaways.

I am absolutely in love with the style! My curls are extremely soft and luxuriously defined with this hairstyle thanks to the products I used – which by the way are all available at your local CVS. For more info, visit for featured videos and products or, like I mentioned, visit your local CVS store for the Dove products that I used in this post. I found mine in the hair care aisle.

  1. Looking at the ingredients on the dove products, it looks like they contain silicones and are not so great for natural curls, making me afraid to try them. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!

    1. Good question. While most silicones have a bad stigma, it’s important to know that not all are bad. In any case, if you decide to use a conditioner with silicones, perhaps use it sparingly that way you avoid the product buildup.
