Repair curls after heat damage with a DIY Protein Treatment!
Being a product junkie can get expensive! It’s best to learn how to whip some of your favorite treatments right at home. This DIY treatment is packed with protein that will help repair your curls from heat damage and the best part is that it contains ingredients that you can find right in your pantry or fridge! I recommend doing a protein treatment once a month for curly heads that have been suffering through heat damage. Don’t over do it though, too much protein can actually be bad for your hair. Make sure that you balance with a good moisturizing deep conditioner.
What You’ll Need:
Depending on your hairtype or length of hair you might want to use more or less of the ingredients. This was enough for me to cover my entire head.
- 1 Tablespoon of a silicone free conditioner
- 1.5 Tablespoons of Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil
- 1.5 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoon of Honey
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Avocado
I used a blender to mix all of the ingredients together until I got a smooth consistency. I then applied the treatment to clean hair. I find that it works best when my hair is clean. To make the application easier, I divided my hair into 4 parts. Oh! Because applying the treatment to your hair can get messy, you might want to have some towels on hand. I worked the treatment thoroughly into each section of hair from roots to tips, ensuring that I leave no strand behind! I then twisted the section into a small bun and clipped it in place.
Once I finished applying the treatment to my entire head, I used the baggy method to trap the heat on my head. You can leave the treatment in your hair for 45 minutes to an hour, then rinse the treatment out!
