I have a healthy obsession with teas in general. While I used to love coffee, it was never a healthy option for me. I always went half coffee/half milk and put way too much sugar than any normal human being. Tea, on the other hand, I love. While green tea isn’t a “cure” for hair loss, it has quite a few properties that can aid in the acceleration of hair growth. Your hair follicles can take up caffeine in green tea which might stimulate hair regrowth for those who have shown signs of hair loss. Green tea is also known to help reduce shedding because of caffeine that blocks the hormone DHT which is what causes shedding in the first place. Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Panthenol can also be found in green tea. Why is that so important? Well, Vitamin C guards against UV radiation while Vitamin E helps to restore dry or damaged hair. Panthenol is a provitamin that assists in strengthening the hair strands preventing split ends, while helping to keep your curls soft.

These are all great reasons to try a green tea rinse on your hair to achieve your healthiest curls. This rinse is really simple and will only add 5 minutes to your wash routine and most of that is sitting time! All you need is a cup of freshly brewed green tea (at room temperature), a spray bottle for easy and precise application, and a funnel is useful so you don’t make a mess!

Just pour the green tea into your spray bottle, using a funnel to keep your space drip free, and you are set! If you don’t have a spray bottle, you could always dunk your head into a big bowl of green tea but that just seems messy and I think I’d get a pain in my neck from hanging my head for so long.

Once you’ve created your rinse, apply it by spraying on your freshly washed hair. Ensure that your hair is evenly saturated with the green tea rinse from scalp to ends. Green tea also helps with dandruff and psoriasis so once you have applied it onto your scalp, you can give yourself a gentle massage to exfoliate the dry flakes formed as a result of dandruff. Once your hair is coated with the rinse, wait at least 5 minutes and then rinse your hair again with tap water.
