I’ve been MIA for the last few weeks preparing to be MIA as I recover from my Lasik. Ha! Did that make sense? I’m finally catching up on a lot and that definitely includes getting ready for Christmas! Every year, my family waits for that one LUCKY day that everyone seems to be free and available to decorate the tree! We just picked out the perfect tree for our new home and are officially adding our traditional decorations that we’ve collected since I was pequeñita and barely old enough to spell P-O-I-N-S…. you get the picture!
Adding lights and ornaments just isn’t the same without singing along to our favorite holiday tunes. Some of us need a little liquid courage to hit the high notes, and that’s where this Poinsettia Spritzer comes in! Now, don’t quote me on this but a little birdie once told me that Poinsettia cocktails were created in NOLA by the infamous Chef Emeril Lagasse and it’s a play on the traditional mimosa. Since I’m not a fan of orange juice (no, seriously… I love oranges, hate orange juice! So weird!) the Poinsettia has been my go to Sunday cocktail of choice. Poinsettia Spritzers, on the other hand, are a little lighter. It makes for a great party drink for the holidays because of it’s cranberry essence and seasonal name. I personally love poinsettias during Christmas because it reminds me of the times that we celebrated Christmas in Mexico with mi abuelita and primos. Poinsettias are also native to Mexico! Bet you didn’t know that tidbit… take that to your local pub’s next trivia night!
Alright! Let’s get down to it. It really is super easy to make and seriously only takes three steps.
To a pitcher, take about two cups of cranberry juice. Then, add in about two cups of sprite. Finally, add in my secret ingredient and fill it to the top! Okay, so it’s no secret how much my family loves Sutter Home Family Vineyards. It’s without a doubt the perfect wine to bring people together and make them feel like home. For this particular spritzer, we are going to use Sutter Home Moscato, which makes everyday occasions (decorating for the holidays SHOULD be an everyday occasion) a little more special!
Mix that together and pour over a glass with ice and you’re good to go! We like to add cranberries to our glasses for a festive touch. Plus, if you leave your glass to sit while you carefully place the star on the top of your tree, the cranberries soak in the moscato a little longer and make for a tipsy treat! ¡Delicioso!
As if the holidays didn’t already put me in a good mood, this Sutter Home Moscato makes it all the merrier. If you need a little break from all of the decorating, you could pull up next to the fireplace – (or space heater, whatever works) – and start scrolling through some other awesome cocktails to put you in the holiday spirit! Plus, I know you’ve been invited to a Christmas party or two. Bring Poinsettia Spritzers or simply a single bottle of Sutter Home Moscato! I GUARANTEE you’ll be everyone’s favorite elf.
Xoxo Cheers! Un Besito,
