Wow! April showers really do bring May flowers. It has been raining so much in the last month and we are finally seeing some consistent sunshine. Spring is all about new beginnings: a new wardrobe, new hairstyles and most importantly, a new skin care routine. Along with new beginnings comes the chance to take risks. For some reason, the spring season gives me that extra bit of hope that I am able to come across chances to be more adventurous and daring. No, I don’t mean jumping off cliffs or out of planes (because that’s not what normal people do… although I’ve done it twice already). I honestly just mean jumping out of my comfort zone in wearing the latest trends in fashion or makeup. In order to do so, though, I need to feel confident in myself and my skin.

So, out with the old and in with the new. This spring season, I have taken a few extra steps in purifying my skin for a more radiant me. I am so excited to share these tips with you, as I know they can work for anyone. Be confident in your skin this spring and dare to be yourself, with a little extra fun!

One of the main things that I have done differently recently to better care for my skin is to deep clean with an effective pore cleanser. I’ve got deep pores mainly around my nose area and I can get a bit self-conscious about it when I’m not wearing any makeup. I always feel like I have to shrink them somehow with a pore filling primer or something of that sort. Lately, I’ve been washing my face with the Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser to really flush the pores out. The cleanser can be found at Walmart and it’s purifying by drawing out dirt from your pores. It’s made with natural charcoal, known for its ability to draw out and trap deep-down impurities. It’s actually a pretty cool cleanser because it pumps black, lathers white and rinses clean! It purifies pores to leave your face deeply cleaned and your skin tingly-smooth. Best of all, it’s gentle enough for everyday use. After washing my face, I rinse it with cold water (as cold as I can take it) to shrink the pores as tight as possible.

Another tip that I have for you all is to only cleanse your face twice a day, and even that may be much for some. Over washing your face will dry out your skin and lead your pores to follow with secreting oil much faster than before, ultimately leading to even more oily skin.

For extra smooth skin, I exfoliate with a cleansing brush once every other day to buff away dead skin cells. The exfoliating cleansing brush goes well with the Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser to really get a thorough cleansing while getting rid of the old you and reintroducing the new you!

For brighter skin with less spots, I drink lots of water. By lots, I mean I don’t mind lugging around a gallon of water with me everywhere I go to ensure that I am staying hydrated. I have very oily skin and the water helps to flush out toxins from the body that would then be released from the pores and remain on my skin and face, leading to severe acne.

Sleeping 8 hours every night is crucial to regeneration of skin cells. It really is about getting your beauty rest. Before going to bed, I like to use the Self Heating One Minute Mask by Bioré, also found at Walmart,. Its low maintenance and extremely easy to use. I am a big fan of masks and this one has been a favorite lately. It purifies pore 2.5x better than a basic cleanser. While most masks take about 10 minutes to get effective results, this Self Heating One Minute Mask gives purified pores in just one minute! It’s oil free which is very important for my skin type. I seriously don’t need any product that will add more oil that what my skin produces regularly. This unique formula heats on contact to open pores and remove pore-clogging dirt and oil. Seriously, it begins to warm the second the mask hits your skin! All you have to do is wet your skin first, apply the mask evenly onto your face, leave it on for ONE MINUTE, and then rinse it off.

A great skin care regimen is what gives me confidence in stepping out of my comfort zone, particularly with makeup. I just got back from Miami not too long ago, and my friend Ada said that I need to play with more color! I am always drawn to nudes and basic colors because I never had the confidence in wearing any other color that would attract attention to my oily face. With clearer skin and smaller pores, I almost feel like I can rock anything! So out with the old boring nude look and in with pops of color for the spring season. Here are some lippies that I have been loving lately. While I don’t know if I am ready to start rocking full glam makeup, I am sure that the pops of color on my lips make for a good start!

As I mentioned above, I was able to find the Bioré Charcoal line at Walmart in the Skin Care Aisle. There are several other deep pore cleansing products to choose from. Have you tried any of them lately? If not, definitely visit the Bioré site for more information!
